Energy Certification
Traditional construction practices are focused on immediate goals, with a strong concern for short & mid-term economic criteria. Sustainable building is, on the other hand, concerned with emphasizing long-term benefits such as quality, efficiency, and safety.
At each stage of the life cycle of the building, sustainable building & maintenance solutions increase comfort and quality of life, while decreasing negative environmental impacts and increasing the economic sustainability of the project. The major action areas of sustainable practices are:
- Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources
- Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity
- Reducing waste, pollution, and environmental degradation
The Energy Performance Certificate grants potential buyers, as well as occupiers, information regarding the actual energy consumption of a building, its monthly maintenance costs, and the foreseen cost for bringing the property to "optimal conditions". The certificate, therefore, promotes a more accurate determination of real estate prices, meaning that the value of buildings with high energy efficiency will be enhanced, because of their competitive maintenance costs.
The Energy Performance Certificate for buildings is issued by the energy auditors for buildings, which are certified by the Ministry of Regional Development and Housing and have a validity of 10 years.
